Medmerry Commissions
The Commissions
We invited 3 local professional artists skilled in sculpture, storytelling/soundscapes and digital/photography to respond creatively to the landscape in 3 key locations across site. Together the commissions explore Medmerry’s past and present through the stories of its people and the movement of its landscape whilst capturing the ongoing relationship between sea and coast.
The Periwinkle Shelter
by Two Circles Design at Earnley Viewpoint
Woven from Sussex willow, the shelter signifies a glance back to Medmerry's past and to the present and future landscape.
Medmerry Soundscapes
by Splodge Designs at Easton Viewpoint,
where you can hear stories from local people who shared their memories, knowledge and hopes for the area.
Timelapse Installation
by Jakub Bors at The Breach viewpoint,
where you can use your mobile phone to take a photograph and contribute to a community science project. See more information in our leaflet describing the commissions and how you can find them.
